Crash cymbal

A crash cymbal is a type of cymbal that makes a loud, sharp “crash” sound. It is used mainly for short, loud accents, unlike a ride cymbal. Crash cymbals can be attached to a stand and struck with a drum stick, or they can be hit with both hands together.

Bass drum

The bass drum is a large drum that creates a low sound, which may be a clear note or not clearly defined. It is usually shaped like a cylinder, with the drum’s width larger than its depth. Both ends of the drum have a struck surface, called a head.

Snare drum

The snare drum, also called the side drum, is a percussion instrument that makes a sharp, short sound when the top head is struck with drumsticks. This happens because stiff wires, called snares, are tightly stretched across the bottom head. Snare drums are used in orchestras, concert bands, marching bands, parades, drumlines, and drum corps.

Lambeg drum

A Lambeg drum is a large drum that is hit with curved malacca canes. It is used mainly in Northern Ireland by Unionists and the Orange Order during summer street parades, especially around July 12th, known as “The Twelfth.” Because the drum is heavy, smaller versions are used in most parades. However, the full-sized drum has been used again in recent years, often on parade floats.

Frame drum

A frame drum is a type of drum where the drumhead is wider than it is deep. It is one of the oldest musical instruments and may be the first drum ever created. The drum has one head, often made from animal skin, though other materials are sometimes used.

Bodhrán

The bodhrán (pronounced “bawr-uhn” or “bawr-uhn”) is a frame drum used in Irish music. It has a diameter of 25 to 65 cm (10–26 in), with most drums measuring 35–45 cm (14–18 in). The sides of the drum are 9–20 cm (3 1/2–8 in) deep.

Pandeiro

The pandeiro (Portuguese pronunciation: [pɐ̃ˈdejɾu]) is a type of hand frame drum that is popular in Brazil. It is used in several Brazilian music styles, such as samba, choro, coco, capoeira, and bossa nova. The drumhead can be adjusted, and the rim holds metal jingles (platinelas), which are cupped.
