Shakuhachi
A shakuhachi (Japanese: 尺八; pronounced [ɕakɯhat͡ɕi]) is a Japanese long flute made of bamboo. The flute, now called the shakuhachi, was created in Japan during the 16th century and is known as the fuke shakuhachi (普化尺八). Earlier, a bamboo flute called the kodai shakuhachi (古代尺八, ancient shakuhachi) or gagaku shakuhachi (雅楽尺八) was introduced from China during the Nara period but disappeared by the 10th century.
Dizi(instrument)
The dizi (Chinese: 笛子; pinyin: dízi, pronounced [tǐt͡sɨ]) is a Chinese side-blown flute. It is also called the di (笛) or héngdi (橫笛), and has different types such as Qudi (曲笛), Bangdi (梆笛), and Xindi (新笛). The dizi is an important Chinese musical instrument used in many types of Chinese folk music, Chinese opera, and the modern Chinese orchestra.
Black Allied Workers’ Union
The Black Allied Workers’ Union (BAWU) was a national trade union group in South Africa. It was created on August 27, 1972, by the South African Students’ Organisation. BAWU worked closely with the Black People’s Convention and was part of the Black Consciousness Movement.

Hulusi
The hulusi (simplified Chinese: 葫芦丝; traditional Chinese: 葫蘆絲; pinyin: húlúsī) is also called the cucurbit flute or gourd flute. It is a wind instrument with reeds from China, Vietnam, and the Shan State, and is played by some groups in Assam. The instrument is held upright and has three bamboo pipes that go through a Calabash gourd.
Saenghwang
The saenghwang (Korean: 생황) is a traditional Korean wind instrument. It is a type of instrument with reeds that came from the Chinese sheng. It is also connected to the Japanese instrument shō, which also came from the sheng.
Tungso
The tungso (Korean: 퉁소; sometimes called tongso, which is the way its Chinese name “dòngxiāo” is written) is a Korean musical instrument. It is a vertical bamboo flute with notches and is played by blowing into one end. It is similar to the danso but is longer and larger.
Taepyeongso
The taepyeongso (Korean: 태평소; lit. “big peace wind instrument”), also called hojok, hojeok, nallari, or saenap, is a Korean wind instrument with two reeds. It belongs to the same family as the shawm or oboe.
Piri
Sophie Leigh McBurnie, born on March 14, 1999, is professionally known as Piri. She is an English musician who was born in Rochdale, a town in Greater Manchester. Piri was part of the musical duo Piri & Tommy, who were listed on several “ones to watch” lists from November 2022 to January 2023.
Daegeum
The daegeum (also spelled taegum, daegum, or taegŭm) is a large bamboo flute that is played sideways. It is used in traditional Korean music. The daegeum has a special buzzing membrane that creates its unique sound.
