KiDi, who was born on August 18, 1993, is known in real life as Dennis Nana Kwaku Boadi Dwamena. He is a Ghanaian singer, songwriter, and music producer.
Early beginnings and breakthrough
KiDi studied Economics and Information Studies at the University of Ghana. His love for music led him to perform at Moonlight Café, a music program that helps new artists share their talents on university campuses in Ghana. He also recorded songs that were similar to popular music.
In 2015, KiDi joined the MTN Hitmaker competition. He won the competition and later signed with Lynx Entertainment. KiDi became famous in 2017 when he released "Say You Love Me," a song he created, arranged, and produced. He became one of Ghana's fastest-rising stars after releasing another popular song called "Odo" in July 2017. He also released a remix of "Odo" with Nigerian artists Davido and Mayorkun in December 2017 and a version with Adiepena in April 2018.
Artistry
KiDi has performed at several events, including the 2017 Rapperholic Concert, Ghana Music Honors 2017 Edition, December to Remember 2017, S Concert 2017, and the 61st Ghana Independence Celebration Show in March 2018 at the Indigo 02 in London. He has shared stages with many award-winning African artists, such as Sarkodie, Samini, Shatta Wale, MzVee, WizKid, Tiwa Savage, Efya, and Patoranking. KiDi has also created music for other artists and worked with award-winning Ghanaian producer Richie Mensah. He has written songs for Ghanaian artists like MzVee and Adina and has collaborated with artists including Tic tac, Ko-Jo Cue, Magnom, and Kwesi Arthur. In 2018, KiDi received six nominations at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, including for "Best New Artiste," "Afro-pop Song of the Year," and "Male Vocalist of the Year." He won the award for "High-life Song of the Year" in April 2018. He was named the Artiste of the 5th Edition of the 3Music Award and the TGMA 2022. KiDi currently has two studio albums and two EPs. His first album, Sugar, was released on May 31, 2019. He also released a movie with the same name that year in Accra, Kumasi, and the UK. In 2020, KiDi released the Blue EP, which included songs such as "End in Tears," "Say Cheese," and "One Man," featuring Adina. This EP was released before his second studio album, The Golden Boy, which came out in 2021. The album won the "Album of the Year Award" at the 2021 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. It includes popular songs like "Mon Bebe," "Cyclone," and "Touch It," which became the most streamed Ghanaian song on Spotify.
Personal life
Dennis went to St. Anthony's School in Accra for his primary education. He did very well in school. He then studied at Accra Academy for his secondary education. After finishing high school, Dennis was admitted to the University of Ghana, Legon, to study Economics and Information Studies. In 2016, he graduated from the university.
KiDi is from Kwahu Abetifi.
KiDi has a son named Zane.
