Criticism

On April 13, 2018, TamTam faced criticism for its promotion campaign, which occurred on the same day that Telegram was blocked in Russia. Copies of many Telegram channels, including those that remained anonymous, were found in the TamTam messenger. In most cases, the creators of the original Telegram channels stated they had no role in making the unauthorized copies. As a result, TamTam's strong promotion efforts were reduced, according to several sources, because the management of Mail.Ru Group did not want to be linked to the Russian government's actions against Telegram.
